Retro Làngos Büfé

Hungarian cuisine has lots of delicious food; goulash, chicken paprikash, soups, kürtöskalács (chimney cake), etc. My favorite, however, has to be the lángos.

A classic Hungarian street snack, it’s a large flat circle of fried dough traditionally covered in sour cream and shredded cheese. A great place for lángos in Budapest is Retro Làngos Büfé - a small stall outside the Arany Janos metro.

There’s always a line but the people behind the counter are always very quick and have an efficient system going which lets you get whatever variant of lángos you want. You can get it with ruccola/mozzarella, “Mexican style”, stuffed, four cheese, with chicken, etc. I got a classic langos with an addition of fried onion. It’s a delicious indulgence with the fried dough and dairy and while technically a snack is very filling! Definitely a must if you’re in Budapest!
