Tejeringo's Coffee is a chain in Malaga that mainly serves the snack it's named after, along with bocadillas (spanish sandwiches), smoothies, coffee, and more. It has 10 stores across Malaga and 1 in Fuengirola (a 37 minute drive south towards Marbella) and has been serving tejeringos since 1990.
Quite a few people know and love churros but many have never heard of tejeringos. These are the Malagan style of churro - named after the syringe used to make thin rings. They don't have ridges nor are they covered in sugar like other churros, instead they look kind of similar to US funnel cake. For the small price of €0.45 ($0.5) you can get 1 ring of tejeringos (pictured below) and for €1 extra you can get a dipping sauce (Hazelnut/white/kinder-chocolate/caramel) or 4 for €3.5.
I sat on the steps of the Plaza de Uncibay to the tejeringos I had just bought from their Center location (a 5 minute walk from the Plaza de la Merced) with the caramel sauce. I tried my best to take my time but ate them incredibly quickly.
The tejeringos themselves are fried deliciousness and the caramel sauce was thick and an amazing accompaniment. Luckily my last night in Malaga was quickly coming to a close forcing me to explore otherwise I would have gotten a lot more!
FINAL VERDICT
Please get these if you are in Malaga, especially if you love fried foods. Not only is it fun to try a local variant of a well-known food that has spread away from its roots, but it's genuinely amazing and so cheap! I want to go back ASAP so I can get the 4 sauce combo and try the others.
